What is in the Texas vehicle listings API?

The Texas vehicle listings API is a read-only REST query over the live retail inventory advertised in the state, and Texas is the largest single-state listing pool we carry - 1,591,527 live listings on August 30, 2026. TADA represents more than 1,400 franchised dealerships across roughly 290 Texas communities, and the catalog covers the independent stores alongside them, because it is built by scanning dealer websites rather than by licensing a franchise roster. Three ways of asking matter to a dealer or a group analyst: search filtered to a make, model, body style or price band; one rooftop's live inventory pulled by website host or dealer id; and year, make and model aggregates for the segments you actually compete in. Everything is metered per call, so a daily competitive pull is a line item you can forecast.

Watch a rooftop, not a market average

Point /v1_2/listings/dealers/:netloc/inventory at a competitor's website host and you get their active listings in the same paged shape search returns. /v1_2/listings/dealers/id/:dealer_id/inventory does it by our dealer id, and /v1_2/listings/dealers/entity/:entity_dealer_id/inventory returns every store of one business in a single call - which is what you want where several franchises share a campus and each runs its own site.

Trucks, and how to isolate them

Texas retail leans on full-size trucks and commercial units, which NTEA tracks from the buying side in its annual Fleet Purchasing Outlook survey of commercial vehicle procurement plans. Filter search by make, model and body style, then size the segment with /v1_2/listings/stats/ymm for one year, make and model, or /v1_2/listings/popular for the most-listed buckets. Across the catalog, 47.1% of listings are new units, so a used-truck question and a new-truck question are two different filters rather than one.

A daily loop that finishes before the store opens

The snapshot swaps between 3 and 6 AM ET. A job that calls /v1_2/listings/recents?days=1 and then pages the rooftops you track has the day's movement in hand before the sales floor does. first_seen and last_seen turn that into days on lot and sell-through without you keeping a history table of your own.

State scope costs nothing extra

A state filter is a filter, not a licence. A search call is 10 millicredits whether it covers one ZIP prefix or the whole of Texas, so scoping tightly saves you calls rather than unlocking a region. There is no Texas plan to buy, no minimum, and no penalty for querying a second state next quarter.

Compliance & sourcing

Your API key is yours alone and you are answerable for the calls made with it - if it leaks, regenerate it in the portal and the old key stops working within about a minute. Competitive research is a normal use of this data: these are advertisements dealers publish for the public, and reading them is what the API is for. What our terms do not allow is republishing another dealer's inventory, or a substantial slice of the catalog, as a dataset of its own. Building and selling something derived from it - a pricing tool, a market report, a merchandising product - is explicitly permitted.

Frequently asked questions

How many vehicle listings are live in Texas?

1,591,527 on August 30, 2026 - the largest single-state pool in a catalog of 19,349,581 live listings. The figure is published exactly as measured, never rounded up, and it shifts daily as dealers add and sell inventory. Read it yourself from /v1_2/listings/stats/region, which returns every region's count with price and odometer aggregates for one aggregate charge.

Can I track one Texas dealership's inventory over time?

Yes. Pull the rooftop's active listings each morning by website host, by our dealer id, or by the business id that covers every store the company runs. Each row carries first_seen and last_seen, so comparing today's pull against yesterday's tells you what landed, what is still sitting and what has gone. Nothing about that requires a contract for a specific dealer - it is the same scan charge as any other search.

Can I filter Texas listings to trucks or a body style?

Yes. Body style, make, model, trim, fuel, condition and several other fields are faceted, which means you can pull their distinct values with counts from /v1_2/listings/taxonomy/terms or type-ahead them through /v1_2/listings/autocomplete. Values come back raw and unnormalized, so read the live list rather than hardcoding one, then pass the value you want as a search filter.

Do I pay more to query a single state?

No. Listings is metered per API call by request class, not by geography or by row count: search and inventory scans are 10 millicredits, full records 5, stats and taxonomy 2, point lookups 1, in a credit of 1,000 millicredits. Filtering to Texas changes what comes back, not what it costs, and errors are never billed at all.
